HSE Management System Development
Expectations defined in written safety programs are not effectively implemented if there is not a management system in place. An HSE management system extracts and outlines from your written safety program what needs to be implemented, by whom and when it is to be accomplished. Typically HSE management systems can be developed and formatted so they are simple to use and easy to understand. This type of HSE management system simplifies the implementation process, thus enabling a greater level of success. Written HSE programs that are not implemented simply are not as effective as they could be. Employers are vulnerable to being out of regulatory compliance, increasing their exposure to loss, and to being inefficient in their HSE efforts.

Audits
We develop audit protocols that are based on regulatory requirements, which are suited to your specific industry. The audit primarily focuses on the physical conditions that may exist at your workplace. An audit is a reliable means to measure improvements made over specified periods of time.  Justin is certified  as a Lead Auditor of Safety Management Systems - OHSAS 18001 through Det Norske Veritas.

Assessments
An assessment is an in-depth process of evaluating various HSE aspects of your company, such as compliance, implementation and effectiveness. We analyze and evaluate your written safety programs and records and three years of workers' compensation losses, interview management, administer perception surveys, and conduct an onsite observation of your workforce and their work environment. The strengths and gaps identified are shared in confidence with top management. Recommendations for closing the gaps are also provided.

Pre-Regulatory Inspections
Unlike the broad based Audits, Pre-Regulatory Inspections focus on the specific areas of your concern. You may have a need that requires that attention is given to a select few areas of concern. For instance, you may want a thorough review of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). In that case, we would review and ensure your written program regarding PPE is regulatory compliant; we would inspect proper selection, use and care of PPE in your workplace; we would review related training records. Our focus would center on all aspects of the specific items for which you are concerned with.

Written Safety Programs (Regulatory Compliant)
We develop regulatory compliant written safety programs that are specific to your company. Unfortunately some companies cut, paste and borrow safety programs that contain information that is often times outdated, non-compliant, not user friendly, not applicable, and as a result are simply ineffective. In these cases, the employer is vulnerable to a higher level of risk and liability, and are not as cost efficient as they should be. Those types of safety programs become a bookshelf ornament and provide little or no use to the employees needing to understand how to perform a task safely. Our written safety programs provide simple step-by-step procedures to safely perform various work tasks.

Leadership Training / Coaching and Feedback
Successful safety efforts are accomplished through participation. The belief that it's the "Safety Guys" job is so passe. Employers who are successful in safety have come to realize that they (top management) and their frontline managers need to understand, be committed and participate in the overall safety process. Management's commitment and participation is the foundation of the entire safety effort. We assist management in deciding and guiding this commitment and participation, which promotes a healthy safety culture.

Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
This is a very interactive process where we work with your employees (subject matter experts) in the development process. We begin by helping to establish a list of JSA's to be developed for your company. We assist and lead individuals or small groups in the development these JSA's. Job Safety Analysis takes a specific job task and identifies each step needed to perform that job task. Identified in each step are actual and/or potential risks and the critical actions needed to mitigate those risks. We also discuss how to use the JSA's at the worksite. JSA's are commonly used by many successful companies as a proactive method to anticipate and mitigate risks before work begins.
